Prepare to make a difference as a future public leader

There is No Participation Fee
Submission Deadline: 12 p.m. | Friday, February 22, 2019

The Central Florida Political Leadership Institute (PLI), a nonpartisan program managed through the Orlando Economic Partnership, is designed for business-minded leaders who have an interest in exploring future public leadership opportunities – either as a political candidate or appointee to a government board or commission – and discovering how their experience and talent could address critical public-policy issues.

Graduates have gone on to serve as mayors, council members, commissioners, legislators, school board members and appointees.

We’ve expanded PLI to give you more skills and strategies to successfully launch a campaign or land a government board or commission appointment and use business lessons to address public-policy issues.

Join our network of graduates who are serving in public office as leaders of impact and influence.
  • Learn from experts on campaigning, appointments, leadership and public polic
  • Applicants from Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties are invited
  • No requirement to run for office or seek an appointment, just explore the possibility in either a short or long-term horizon
  • Nonpartisan
  • Limited class size to build lasting contacts
  • Receive a 100 percent scholarship
  • An in-depth look at the elections
An expanded class schedule allows members to explore the campaign and appointment process in-depth with a faculty of experts who teach on campaigning, appointments, public issues and leadership strategies. Networking events provide members with invaluable opportunities to build lasting connections.

There is no commitment required to run for office or seek an appointment, merely explore the possibility of serving as a public leader in either a short-term or long-term horizon. A limited number of applicants will be competitively chosen by a selection committee. All participants will receive a 100 percent scholarship thanks to the generous support of program sponsors.

Selection is based on a competitive application process, resulting in a small class size to ensure individual attention.

Classes begin with a two-day session on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Both days will be at the Orlando Economic Partnership, 301 E. Pine Street, Suite 900, Orlando, FL 32801.

The program will then meet on the fourth Thursday of the month from May through August from noon - 4 p.m. (lunch will be provided). The final class will be held Thursday, September 12 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. A VIP networking reception and graduation ceremony will be announced. Participants may miss only one class from May to August.
