Local State College Offerings

Lake-Sumter State College, Seminole State College of Florida and Valencia College, all members of the Florida College System, combined serve more than 66,000 students in Orlando. The three institutions also have a combined $1.6 billion economic impact on the region.

These colleges all partner with the University of Central Florida to offer DirectConnect to UCF. Through DirectConnect, associate (A.A. and A.S.) degree graduates of Lake-Sumter State College, Seminole State College of Florida and Valencia College receive guaranteed admission to UCF as juniors. Aimed at improving local access to higher education, DirectConnect has helped thousands of students earn their bachelor’s degrees in a convenient, affordable way close to home.

During the last four decades, Lake-Sumter State College has earned the reputation as one of the best two-year institutions in Florida. There are three convenient campuses: Leesburg, Clermont, and Sumterville. Seminole State College of Florida

Named by the Aspen Institute in 2019 as one of the top 150 community colleges in the United States, Seminole State serves a diverse population of nearly 30,000 students at four campuses in Central Florida as well as online. Seminole State offers seven bachelor’s degrees, two-year university transfer (A.A.) and Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees; specialized career certificates; continuing professional education and adult education.

Seminole State College offers a wide range of continuing education and professional development courses through Education To Go (ed2go). Entirely online, these courses are designed for professionals seeking knowledge or skills for career advancement.

Valencia College

The college offers a two-year A.A. parallel program that prepares students to transfer to an upper-division college or university; college-preparatory courses that help first-year students excel; and technical programs and continuing education courses that prepare students to meet the needs of business and industry.

Valencia College Continuing Education offers a wide selection of extension courses for both personal and professional growth. Taught by experts in their fields, the courses provide practical, hands-on experience.

In direct response to the needs of local companies, the region’s technical schools offer a variety of courses for the local workforce and industry-oriented curricula that are mainstays of our higher education system.

Lake Technical College (Lake Tech)

Lake Tech, a public post secondary technical charter school, meets the educational needs of the community by offering a variety of high quality vocational and technical training opportunities. Lake Tech’s main campus is in Eustis, FL, and the Institute of Public Safety is in Tavares, FL. Lake Tech offers 29 certificate Workforce Education programs plus two apprentice programs in Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Education.

Orange Technical College (OTC)

Throughout five technical college campuses and numerous community learning centers, Orange Technical College teaches the industry skills needed to start a whole new career through industry certifications/licensures, become an apprentice, learn English, attain your high school diploma or expand current skills.

Osceola Technical College (oTECH)

Osceola Technical College (oTECH) offers training programs in business technology, industrial education, electronics, electrical wiring, building systems and maintenance technologies, among a variety of post-secondary, training alternatives.
